Movement is Medicine
Awakening the body’s innate intelligence through breath, movement, and awareness—restoring connection, ease, and resilience from within through evidence-informed yoga therapy.
Rooted in the wisdom of yoga and informed by anatomy, neuroscience, and therapeutic practice.

Fascia Tensegrity: The Architecture of Efficient Movement.
The Intelligence of Movement
Movement is not simply exercise, nor reduced to an asana—it is a living conversation between the nervous system, breath, fascia, bones, and awareness.
Through the integration of anatomy, neuroscience, biomechanics, and yoga therapy, we explore how the body adapts, reorganizes, and restores function.

My greatest teacher has always been the body, revealing the profound connection between movement, breath, mind, and spirit.
Its remarkable ability to adapt, reorganize, and restore has inspired more than three decades of study, practice, and teaching. Through this lifelong exploration, I developed the IPATH Method®—an integrative approach to yoga therapeutics that weaves together the timeless wisdom of yoga with contemporary understanding of anatomy, fascia, biomechanics, neuroscience, breath, and therapeutic movement.
Whether working with individuals seeking to restore health and function or mentoring yoga teachers in the art and science of therapeutic practice, my intention remains the same: to help others reconnect with the innate intelligence of the body and discover greater ease, resilience, and well-being through the practice of yoga.

Denese's Story
Denese Cavanaugh, C-IAYT, E-RYT 500, is the founder and director of the IPATH Method® (Integral Postural Alignment Therapeutics) in 2012, an evidence-informed approach to therapeutic yoga that integrates postural assessment, fascia research, breathwork, movement science, and the wisdom of traditional yoga to support pain care, resilience, and healthy aging.
With more than 30 years of teaching experience, Denese has dedicated her career to helping individuals move with greater ease while educating yoga teachers to think critically, teach skillfully, and adapt practices to the individual rather than the pose. She specializes in persistent pain, musculoskeletal conditions, neurological disorders, trauma-informed care, breathing dysfunction, and functional movement for longevity.
Denese has served as a Yoga Therapist in clinical settings, including the outpatient integrative medicine department at George Washington University Hospital, and has worked alongside healthcare professionals to support individuals living with chronic pain and complex conditions. She has also developed therapeutic yoga programs, authored extensive teacher training curricula, and led professional trainings throughout the United States and internationally.
As the creator of the IPATH Method®, Denese is passionate about mentoring the next generation of yoga educators through a learning model rooted in science, observation, critical thinking, and compassionate teaching. Her programs combine evidence-informed education with practical application, helping teachers confidently adapt yoga for diverse bodies and real-world clinical needs.
In addition to leading advanced teacher trainings and continuing education programs, Denese continues to teach therapeutic yoga, speak on pain care and fascia-informed movement, and support the growing integration of yoga therapy within healthcare and wellness settings.
